Role-play Structure

  • • You receive a role card with your scenario and 5 minutes of preparation time
  • • The Interlocutor (actor) plays the patient/client/relative
  • • You play yourself as the healthcare professional
  • • Each role-play lasts approximately 5 minutes
  • • Both role-plays are recorded and assessed by two official OET assessors

Role-play Scenarios

Scenarios are profession-specific and reflect real workplace situations. You may encounter:

• Taking a patient history• Explaining a diagnosis• Providing test results• Discussing treatment options• Discharge planning• Giving lifestyle advice• Breaking bad news• Managing a difficult consultation
